Quirk in the Automator Render PDF Pages as Images Action

Just putting this here for when I need to find it again the future. It may help others too.

The Render PDF as Images action puts the resulting .JPEG image in the /tmp/ directory and gives it some kind of what looks like nonsensical but methodical name. You must rename the files and move them out of /tmp/ to be able to use them.

St Louis Cardinals Icon for Fluid

The Fluid Site Specific Browser (SSB) is one of the better apps I have run across in long time. It's running perpetually for either Google Docs, E*TRADE, Muxtape or listening to Cardinals baseball. While there are very good icons for all of the former, none existed for the Redbirds, so here it is at Flickr along with the other Fluid SSB icons. Feel free to download and use it however you see fit.

Copying HTML Tables into Numbers.app

It's frustrating the tables cannot not be copied between Safari and Numbers.app. However, when I have encountered problems copying from Safari to Numbers, I have found that I can switch to Camino or Firefox and the copy / paste works fine.

Copying from Safari, Camino and Firefox to Excel seems to work fine too. So, maybe this is a bug with Numbers.app.

Missouri Tigers Basketball Schedule - 2007-2008

Google made creating an iCal for this season easy finally. I just took the Outlook format from the MUTigers.com web site schedule page and imported it into a Google Calendar and shared the calendar.

You can find it at:

iPhone Wishlist: Camera as Input for Safari

I love the possibilties:

  • Business cards could have a URL like http://chriswoods.com/adoekfj.vcf where my contact information exists. Turn my business card over and take a picture of the URL. Loading the .vcf file would add me to the Address Book.

  • You're in a store and want more information about a product, take a picture of the URL on the product's signage. Get a PDF from the store's web site about the product.

  • Interested in that house you just drove by? Stop and take a picture of the realtor's sign that has a URL to the agent's listing sheet.

  • Wanna go to a concert? Take a picture of the band's flyer. Go to the ticket broker's site to buy the tickets.
